Silvestro e Gonzales From 1958 to 1970 Warner Bros. and Dear International assembled annual feature-length cartoon compilations for theatrical distribution. While they were initially meant to be more all-star in nature, it was clear that for whatever reason Sylvester was becoming the programs' headliner. Before long, Sylvester started sharing his top-billing status with Speedy, and the series of revues became generally known as Silvestro e Gonzales. Sylvester became something of a cartoon superstar in Italy. In the 1960s and 1970s he starred with Tweety in newly (badly) animated commercials for the De Rica line of canned produce, which aired as part of the nightly advertiser-sponsored comedy series Carosello. Even toys of the characters were branded under the Silvestro e Gonzales name. Bugs, meanwhile, averaged at best just one short per compilation, and in the programs' opening title cards he was usually billed fourth after Sylvester, Speedy, and Tweety (and just barely edging out "Ettore," who based on the images used could have been either Hector or Marc Antony). Theatrical posters and lobby cards would often depict unrelated characters from various shorts interacting (Tweety teaming up with Speedy, etc.) or rearranging poses from one cartoon into a more theatrically dynamic image. Sometimes the entire cartoons would run uncut including all titles, while other times they merely jumped to the shorts' title cards. All of the Silvestro e Gonzales programs were rereleased throughout the 1960s and 1970s. The films were so popular that when it came time to release The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie in Italy, Warner Bros. tried to tie it to the series by modeling its Italian title after one of the compilations, Silvestro e Gonzales in Orbita! Almost all of the programs would see a home video release, splitting each feature-length compilation into two separate, almost identical cassette releases. The video edits of the films were then further reissued starting in 1987 under a brand new banner, Cartoonshow. More interesting about these Videomatto releases is a group image on the back covers showing the other characters Univideo releases under the label, all licensed from (at the time) various companies. The Popeye cartoons Univideo would release were from the King Features-owned package of 1960s shorts and episodes of Popeye and Son. Ironically, in the age of DVD all of the properties pictured (with the sole exception of the Pink Panther) would be handled by Warner Home Video.

As of this update, there is no evidence of a Porky Pig volume existing.
