Even though the Joker's origin more or less remained the same since 1951, it's always interesting to note the subtle differences between how it's been adapted for each medium.

The origin from the animated series is more or less a cross between the origins from the comic books and the movie, so it's best to read those origins first.

At this point, there has been no known origin for the Joker on the 1966 television series, so it's safe to assume that the show followed the golden age comic book continuity.
