The Looney Tunes Video Show No. 11
At this point in the series, the label is starting to get more creative with how they bill the characters appearing in specific cartoons. Such is the case here with The Scarlet Pumpernickel with the box accurately promising "an all star cast," though it seems odd that Elmer would get a mention but not Sylvester.
The Looney Tunes Video Show No. 12
More examples of Warner Home Video's unique billings for some of the cartoons, specifically for To Itch His Own and The Mouse That Jack Built.
The Looney Tunes Video Show No. 13
Another interesting way to bill a character, as the star of Chow Hound is merely listed as "a cunning dog." Also note, at this point Marvin's name had yet to be firmly established by the studio, so here he is just referred to as "The Martian."
The Looney Tunes Video Show No. 14
Another interesting variation of Marvin's name is found on the back cover, as he's billed as "The Little Martian" (they even give it a trademark symbol).
The Looney Tunes Video Show No. 15
Volume fifteen provides two more, curious "starring" casts. The less head-scratching of the two goes to Much Ado About Nutting with its lead character "a nutty squirrel" (get it?), but to pull "J. Flack Frog" out of thin air for One Froggy Evening (and to trademark the name!). This marks the first attempt to christen the singing frog since the days of The Bugs Bunny Show back in the early 1960s, and it wouldn't be until the mid-1990s when Michigan J. Frog would become the character's accepted, official name.

The series's final billing oddity comes thanks to Nelly's Folly, which stars "a singing giraffe." If only that giraffe had a name. |

Classic Looney Tunes Cartoons! Released to celebrate Bugs's 50th birthday, this series would be repeated and adapted throughout Europe and Australia in the coming years. Eventually, the cover motif and character art would be used in the United States for Warner's otherwise unrelated "movie parody title" series.
Each collection would start with a short trailer in which Bugs (uncomfortably voiced by Keith Scott) bursts through the classic "WB shield in the clouds" logo to order people to wish him a happy birthday. An off-camera singing group then speeds through "Happy Birthday to You" over a few cartoon clips (actually just lifted from 50 Years of Bugs Bunny in 3 1/2 Minutes). This promo was also used on other UK and European video releases. The opening titles to the first cartoon on each compilation were also edited, with a shot of the video's title and cover spliced in between the Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies titles and the short's opening title card.

Looney Tunes Bumper CollectionsIn the UK, bumper collections are simply extra-long video releases, either by combining numerous volumes of a series together or by offering one entirely new double-length collection. Despite all having similar covers and titles, nobody at Warner Home Video UK thought to present these releases in any kind of cohesive series. Almost none of these videos have any kind of stated volume number, nor did the cassettes or packaging do anything to set each other apart upon their initial release outside of bullseye ring color. Eventually, later releases would be officially numbered and some slight backtracking was done to note the earlier collections as specific "volumes" (but primarily on the cassette labels). At least when a similar bumper series was later started in Australia, that division thought ahead and numbered each collection from the get-go.

Likewise, putting together volumes fifteen, sixteen, and eighteen of The Looney Tunes Video Show.

Later printings of this set label the cassettes as being Looney Tunes Bumper Collection 4.
Looney Tunes Bumper Edition Finally eschewing the Looney Tunes Video Show compilations, this collection focuses entirely on the Stars of Space Jam volumes, offering half of each tape in that series.
Later printings of this set label the cassettes as being Looney Tunes Bumper 5.
Looney Tunes Bumper Edition Containing the remainder of the cartoons from the Stars of Space Jam series.
Later printings of this set label the cassettes as being Looney Tunes Bumper 6.
Looney Tunes Bumper Edition Volume 7 Pulls various, mostly Bugs cartoons from the Bugs & Friends series, which didn't see a UK release at all. Unlike previous known editions in this series, at some point during its production run a "Volume 7" label was added to the cover.
To hopefully avoid complaints, the back cover does note that the collection "does not feature Tasmanian Devil or Porky Pig."
Looney Tunes Bumper Edition Volume 8 Featuring the remainder of the cartoons from the Bugs & Friends series, plus all of the cartoons from the Carrotblanca compilation. Again, at some point during its production run a "Volume 8" label was added to the cover. And again, the back cover states that it "does not feature Tasmanian Devil." Aside from all these releases, there is supposedly an additional volume referred to as "Volume 2" that actually charted in the UK, but no information on its contents or even its cover is available. This may be a case where this "volume two" is in fact the blue volume above and that later bumper volumes were simply miscounted and misnumbered--a frustrating side effect of this series initially having no individual titles or volume numbers. |
