"Didja ever have the feeling you were being...squashed?"UPDATE! - Warner Bros. has finally listened to the fans! The new entry in the Looney Tunes Super Stars series, Foghorn Leghorn & Friends: Barnyard Bigmouth, contains both full screen and widescreen versions of the cartoons. This isn't perfect, as the unnecessary "cropped" widescreen versions are still present, but at least Looney Tunes purists and collectors are being considered with the reinstating of the full screen versions. The task now is to convince Warner Home Entertainment to go back and correct the previous Bugs Bunny: Hare Extraordinaire and Daffy Duck: Frustrated Fowl DVDs (use the contact information below).
FOR THOSE OF YOU JUST JOINING US, IT HAS COME TO OUR ATTENTION THAT THE FIRST TWO LOONEY TUNES SUPER STARS DVDS RELEASED AUGUST 10 CONTAIN SHORTS THAT HAVE BEEN "MATTED" TO APPEAR IN WIDESCREEN. WE CONSIDER SUCH ALTERATIONS AS EDITS TO THE ANIMATION AS ORIGINALLY PRODUCED AND FILMED AND WE CANNOT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE RECOMMEND THESE TO FANS AND COLLECTORS. LIKEWISE, THE ALTERED SHORTS WILL NOT APPEAR ON OUR SITE AS HAVING BEEN RELEASED, AS WE ONLY REGARD IT A TRUE RELEASE IF THE SHORT IS PRESENTED UNCUT AND UNOBSCURED. WE URGE FANS TO WRITE TO WARNER HOME ENTERTAINMENT AND DEMAND THAT THESE CARTOONS BE PROPERLY RESTORED AND REMASTERED WITH ALL OF THEIR ANIMATION INTACT. PEOPLE WORKED LONG AND HARD ON THESE CARTOONS FOR DECADES, AND TO COVER UP A PART OF THAT WORK--ESPECIALLY JUST TO CREATE A FALSE VIEWING EXPERIENCE FOR THE SAKE OF BEING "TRENDY" IN THE ERA OF BLU-RAY AND HDTV--IS AS OFFENSIVE TO THE CREW AT THE WARNER BROS. CARTOON STUDIO AS TO REMOVE SEQUENCES FOR POLITICAL CORRECTNESS. |
