So, you think you're a Weird Al fan, eh? Well, you didn't think it was as easy as just downloading an MP3 every so often and taping UHF off cable, did you?
Weird Al fans are definitely unique from fans of other recording artists, style of music aside. They're always looking for ways to celebrate their hero and help introduce others to his work, so when a project, campaign, or initiative comes along for whatever reason, Al fans will rally together to do whatever is necessary.
In 2002 fans successfully coerced MGM into releasing Al's 1989 cult classic UHF on DVD, in early 2006 it was announced that Shout! Factory would release all thirteen episodes of The Weird Al Show on DVD, and in June 2006 fans were able to raise $15,000 to sponsor a hopeful star for Al on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Three much-desired goals realized, so far.
But with all the different things fans can write for or request, where exactly does one start? Well, for the benefit of the Al fan on the go, look no further for all your grassroots needs. Below you'll find info about specific causes, links to the official sites (where applicable), descriptions of what you can do to help, and even priority statuses so you know exactly what to do first. It's your one-stop Al campaign resource center!
So do a little reading below and help out however you can. Remember, it's all for Al!

GO FOR THE GOLD, OR PLATINUM, or whatever!
Throughout his career, Al has earned forty-four Gold and Platinum Records in the United States, Canada, and Australia...well, that's simply not enough! Do your part in helping the U.S. sales statuses for Al's body of work. You don't need to go overboard and buy hundreds of copies...just pick up one, and be sure it's from an actual retailer (as in, not an eBayer or second-hand store).
Use the chart below to help you decide what to purchase. Albums are arranged in order of priority. Don't rest until your collection's complete!
Have you been wondering what's keeping some of Al's projects from coming back into print? So have we. We have tried to track down the correct information for whichever company currently owns the distribution rights to a given project, so simply help convince them to rerelease Al's work by writing to the corresponding addresses.
As always, be polite and supportive in your messages.
